At the suggestion of the National Headquarters, a decision was made that allows not only the departmental bases, but also the accommodation places registered in the National Tourist Register to participate in the new humanitarian program for accommodation of persons with temporary protection.

Full conditions and details of the program after May 31 can be found here – https://ukraine.gov.bg/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Програма-20.05.2022.pdf

“After receiving hundreds of calls and official letters, a number of requests and questions. After dozens of reports were filmed and numerous interviews were given by hoteliers, I can confidently say: the humanitarian program for accommodation of people with temporary protection in hotels was extremely successful! This measure not only provided shelter to tens of thousands of mothers with children, but also proved to be invaluable financial support for a number of Bulgarian businesses that were severely affected by the covid crisis, “said in a special video address the Deputy Prime Minister for Effective Governance.

The new program, developed by the operational coordination group, provides BGN 15 per day per person per night and three meals.

“We are fully aware that this means that it will be able to include mainly lower-class accommodation, family hotels and guest houses. According to a reference in the system of the Ministry of Tourism, the capacity of the accommodation of only 1 and 2 stars amounts to 175,000 beds, “the appeal reads.

Registration of hotels for the program is now available and is carried out on the telephone number of the national telephone line – 02 905 5555 or by sending the filled sample for electronic sign up to support@ukraine.gov.bg. We strongly recommend that you sign up by 25.05.22.

Meanwhile, interviewers are already arriving in the field to test the offline platform for collecting data from refugees. Information will be published on the government portal as soon as the platform is available online. In this way, people with temporary protection will be able to fill in their data themselves.

The data collected are related to the needs of IDPs and aim to help optimize the use of logistics resources.
